S. K. Porwal College, Kamptee was established in 1965 by our founder President, Late Seth Nemkumarji Porwal in the memory of his father, Late Seth Kesarimal Porwal. That time there was no other college in and around Kamptee town. The college has made a humble beginning with small number of students in Arts and Commerce faculties. Now it boasts of having three faculties Arts, Commerce and Science with post graduate courses in few subjects. Our college is one of the few colleges to start Microbiology, Biochemistry, Electronics and Computer science at undergraduate level and Microbiology, Chemistry and Information technology at post graduate level. Our college is first to introduce B. Sc. in Information Technology. The degree college and junior college are housed in separate buildings. |
| The college has highly qualified teaching staff with 32 Ph. D. holders. Most of them are engaged in research. The college has been recently awarded a status of Center for Higher Learning and Research in Chemistry and Microbiology subjects. Our students can now pursue research in our collegeto get the Ph.D. degree. The University Grants Commission, New Delhi has sanctioned three major research projects in last five years. | |

| The college has not only been progressing in academics but it also has been giving stress upon overall development of the students. The college has NSS, NCC and population club units. It also has training and placement cell. The college boasts of independent playfield for cricket, football and hockey. The college has been champion in football and hockey several times in tournaments organized by R.T.M.Nagpur University, Nagpur. The college is doing yeomen service in the field of higher education in the rural area for five decades and it has dedicated itself for the total development of rural students. | |
